The Doughnut Vault in Chicago is a local favorite. People line up around the block for theses amazing donuts. They are worth the wait. They start selling at 8:30 a.m. until they run out around 10:30.

"California's Amazing Bounty"

Just wanted to let you know of an exciting show I will be in from September 17 to November 5. The opening reception is Saturday, September 17, from 6:00 to 10:00. This is a wonderful gallery in the new hip area of the city of San Fernando. La Galeria Gitana, 120 N. Maclay Ave. St. E, San Fernando, 818-898-7708.
I have six paintings in this show. All are painted within the theme of show, "California's Amazing Bounty". I have depicted orange groves, vineyards and still life paintings combining the two. No dessert paintings this time. ;-)

“A Touch of Gold”

Art Exhibition at The Women’s City Club of Pasadena

The Women’s City Club of Pasadena at the historic Blinn House is pleased to announce its fall art exhibition, “A Touch of Gold.” The exhibition, which runs from August 1 through October 31, 2011, features fifty six paintings by eighteen California-based artists. It will be the second exhibition produced by Margaret Danielak, the Women’s City Club of Pasadena’s Curator of Exhibitions. The artists’ reception is Thursday, August 11 from 6 pm to 9 pm.

“I am thrilled to be able to showcase the work of such talented artists from throughout the state. The venuethe beautiful and historic Blinn Housecontinues to inspire me. I look forward to sharing these fall themed paintings with the community,” says Danielak.

The “Touch of Gold” exhibition features the work of artists Scottie Brown, Barbara Davidson, Lee Edwards, Julie Hill, Olga Kaczmar, Anna Kelly, Athena Mantle, Beverly Lazor, Robin Neudorfer, Ferial Nassirzadeh, Kate Moriarty, Terry Romero Paul, Julie Snyder, Carol Steinberg, Diana Stewart, Beth Summers, Trice Tolle and John Paul Thornton.

The Blinn House was built in 1905 for lumber baron Edmund Blinn and his family. The Blinns hired popular Chicago architect, George Washington Maher to design their California home in the Midwestern Prairie School Style. The building has been home to the Women’s City Club since 1945 and continues to serve the Pasadena community as a meeting place for civic, cultural, and educational activities.

“A Touch of Gold” will be on view from August 1 through October 31, 2011. The reception is Thursday, August 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Still Life Show at Carter Sexton

I am very happy to be included in this fabulous still life show at Carter Sexton in North Hollywood. The show starts July 8 and runs through August 5. The artist's reception is July 8 6:00 to 9:00. I won't be able to attend the reception but if you find yourself in the area I hope you can stop in at some time. If you don't recognize my painting, it is the one in the lower left corner. That's right, the dougnuts and coffee!

At the SfVAC Spring 2011 Show

I had two paintings juried into the SFVAC Show at Gallery 800, 5108 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood. I am standing in from of my painting "Peasant's Lunch", 11x14, Oil on canvas. I was honored to have been given a Merchant's Award for this painting from juror Frank Lennartz. Frank told me I had captured the feeling and mood of sitting at a picnic table in the wine country. The show is open until June 11.

April Issue of American Art Collector

I am excited to share with you my presence in the April American Art Collector magazine. Page 34, "The Savvy Collector's Preview Guide To Upcoming Shows" talks about a group show at The Happening Gallery, 4047 Lincloln Blvd., Marina del Rey, Ca., that I am in. Also, page 68, in the Epicurean Art Today section has an editorial piece with additional images of my work on page 70 and page 72!

"Fleurs" 24x24 was juried into "Women Painter West Celebrates 90 Years"!

I am so pleased that "Fleurs" was juried into this show. The style is a departure from my dessert paintings but it is a direction I want to explore more of. Not to worry, I will still paint donuts!

2011 NVAL National Show
