A Window Between Worlds, the only national nonprofit dedicated to using art to end domestic violence, has been changing the lives of battered women and children since 1991. Through art programs and individual creative expression, survivors of domestic violence are given the opportunity to release their feelings, reclaim their sense of power and self-worth, and find hope for a brighter future.

Today AWBW reaches over 60,000 participants annually in 25 states. The art programs are offered to shelters, transitional homes and outreach centers at no cost. It is through the support of our caring community and friends that we are able to continue providing creative workshops to the growing number of women and children in crisis.

Thank you for being part of helping survivors heal the emotional wounds of domestic violence.

Just wanted to let you know of an exciting show I will be in from September 17 to November 5. The opening reception is Saturday, September 17, from 6:00 to 10:00. This is a wonderful gallery in the new hip area of the city of San Fernando. La Galeria Gitana, 120 N. Maclay Ave. St. E, San Fernando, 818-898-7708.

I have six paintings in this show. All are painted within the theme of show, "California's Amazing Bounty". I have depicted orange groves, vineyards and still life paintings combining the two. No dessert paintings this time. ;-)

“A Touch of Gold”

Art Exhibition at The Women’s City Club of Pasadena

The Women’s City Club of Pasadena at the historic Blinn House is pleased to announce its fall art exhibition, “A Touch of Gold.” The exhibition, which runs from August 1 through October 31, 2011, features fifty six paintings by eighteen California-based artists. It will be the second exhibition produced by Margaret Danielak, the Women’s City Club of Pasadena’s Curator of Exhibitions. The artists’ reception is Thursday, August 11 from 6 pm to 9 pm.

“I am thrilled to be able to showcase the work of such talented artists from throughout the state. The venue—the beautiful and historic Blinn House—continues to inspire me. I look forward to sharing these fall themed paintings with the community,” says Danielak.

The “Touch of Gold” exhibition features the work of artists Scottie Brown, Barbara Davidson, Lee Edwards, Julie Hill, Olga Kaczmar, Anna Kelly, Athena Mantle, Beverly Lazor, Robin Neudorfer, Ferial Nassirzadeh, Kate Moriarty, Terry Romero Paul, Julie Snyder, Carol Steinberg, Diana Stewart, Beth Summers, Trice Tolle and John Paul Thornton.

The Blinn House was built in 1905 for lumber baron Edmund Blinn and his family. The Blinns hired popular Chicago architect, George Washington Maher to design their California home in the Midwestern Prairie School Style. The building has been home to the Women’s City Club since 1945 and continues to serve the Pasadena community as a meeting place for civic, cultural, and educational activities.

“A Touch of Gold” will be on view from August 1 through October 31, 2011. The reception is Thursday, August 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. The Women’s City Club of Pasadena is located at 160 N. Oakland Avenue in Pasadena, CA 91101. Free parking is accessible behind the building from Madison Avenue. The Women’s City Club of Pasadena is open for art viewing Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. During the run of the exhibition, Curator Margaret Danielak will be on hand for special viewing hours on Fridays from 3 pm until 5 pm and by appointment. I am very happy to be included in this fabulous still life show at Carter Sexton in North Hollywood. The show starts July 8 and runs through August 5. The artist's reception is July 8 6:00 to 9:00. I had two paintings juried into the SFVAC Show at Gallery 800, 5108 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood. I am standing in from of my painting "Peasant's Lunch", 11x14, Oil on canvas. I was honored to have been given a Merchant's Award for this painting from juror Frank Lennartz. Frank told me I had captured the feeling and mood of sitting at a picnic table in the wine country. The show is open until June 11.

Any one in the L.A. area is invited to a very exciting art exhibit, the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery's "09 Open Call" show. At Barnsdall Park The dates are from August 13 to September 27. The reception is Sunday August 16, 2 -5 PM. There will be hundreds of very diverse artwork to view. The paintings are hung salon style. It is a fabulous show and I have my painting "Big Sky" in the show. I will be there at 2:00.

Yesterday, July 19th was the reception for the group show I am in called "Material World". It was a fun reception at the Canoga Park Arts Center. The temperature was over 100 degrees but many of our friends, family and collectors came to see the diverse work. There were seven artists in the show. Donna Geist Buch, Richard Herd, Barbara Jones, Judy Koenig, Carol Merrick, Jude Wiesenfeld and myself. There was amazing watercolor and oil paintings, collage, assemblage and sculpture . We each had our own interpretation of the theme. This difference led to a lively and interesting show. I was very pleased to be included in such a talented and creative group of people.
